Project Details:
The "Tech Center" was designed and built for complete flexibility. At the
time, Applied had not yet defined the user group that would occupy this world
class facility. Consequently, the main ballroom was built to achieve cleanliness
of a class 100 clean room environment. Occupancy ratings included H2 - H7.
A separate structure to house the massive chillers and intensive waste treatment
system was a requirement of the project.
A partnership between Graber Simmons & Cowen, an Austin Texas based architect.
Obayashi Corporation, and Hathaway Dinwiddie formed the design build entity
called GHO, which Applied Contracted with for the project.
As a result of the large dollar amount, Applied's finance and facilities departments
required constant reporting of cash flow analysis and forecasts of projected
project costs.
Managing the security, data cabling, signage, and ever changing infrastructure
needs of the then protégé 300MM wafer machine, were also part of the scope.
While with a previous employer, Keith DeBrine was the project manager on this
project
